Baby, it's cold outside.
So we bring you some tips to dress stylishly even when the weather is 20F outside, so hopefully it will help those of us out there look less Michelin Man and more snow catwalk queen.
Wear a thin underlayer of thermal underwear to keep warm.
Thermal underwear are not only for the ski slopes. By wearing a long sleeve thermal shirt and long thermal leggings, you are essentially layering up without adding bulk and your stylish winter outfit is off to a good start. Make sure these are sweat wicking so you won't steam up like a sauna in Vienna.
Jeans in winter? Why not!
When you have a thin underlayer on, you can wear whatever pants you choose. You could wear denim, leather leggings, wool leggings. If you fancy, flaunt a dress and wear it with black thermal leggings that look like regular leggings.
Give me some length, baby!
If you're wearing a dress, skirt or slim pants that can be tucked into a pair of thigh high boots, then the obvious shoes to complement your outfit will be thigh high boots. It's worth the investment and will pretty much be your best friend in keeping your legs toasty warm. If it snows? Put on a pair of winter boots that has some faux fur poking out the top for your snow catwalk queen moment.
Beret or beanie?
The number of headwear options out there are pretty endless. These days you can easily find warm beanies with cute and irrisistably fluffy pom poms on the end. If you are wearing a long tan jacket then you can match it up with a tan colored beret to keep your outfit consistent. We also love Russian cossack fur hats, which look similar to the hat Angelina Jolie's character wears in the movie Salt. It will keep you warm for days and also make a fashion statement.
You can style puffy jackets with 2 to 3 layers of leggings, depends on how cold it is. If you are looking for other options, you can rock one of the many kinds of winter coats out there. Fashion statements can be made no matter the coat is fluffy, checkered, super-long or furry-collared. Checking the weather beforehand helps so you don't end up being too warm or too cold!
Finishing touch 1: when it is chilly enough, don't go out without your pair of leather gloves. Invest in a pair with special fingertips that is tech friendly so you can still post your stylish snaps for the 'gram with no fuss whatsoever.
Finishing touch 2: don't forget your scarf! You probably have a few in your wardrobe, whether it be tan, checkered, wool, cashmere, infinity and more. You can narrow your choices down by picking one that is in a monochrome palette with your coat or trousers. If you are stuck, tartan print scarfs are universal and blends in extremely well into any outfit. A well-picked scarf will be the perfect cherry on top for the unique and stylish outfit you've put together.
